Success Stories
From the Office of Dr. Sharon Dean
Auto Accidents
I started coming to Dr. Sharon Dean’s
office in March, after I was involved in a car accident. I was having
pain in my neck, shoulders, and in my upper and lower back. In addition,
two weeks after the accident, I started having headaches that lasted
through the whole day. In the beginning, I was coming to her office two
times per week. The sessions with her were very healing. To my
amazement, after each session, my headache would completely go away
until the next morning. Today, after seeing Dr. Dean for five months,
the pain has totally gone away. Now I come to her office once a week to
work on correcting my posture. Today, my body is more relaxed and I have
a greater range of movement throughout my body. Thanks to her wonderful
care, I feel an overall improvement in my posture and flexibility. I
strongly believe that she truly cares for the well-being of her
patients. I am very glad that I have gotten to know her and will be
forever grateful for what she has done for me.

I had a car accident in early April, which initially caused neck strain
and headaches and then the symptoms seemed to subside. I was so busy
rushing about my daily schedule; I continued on without seeking
treatment and did not think much more about the matter. Although I
didn't realize it at the time, I had grown stiffer and stiffer, so much
so that I found it difficult to look over my right shoulder when
driving. I immediately talked to a friend interested in holistic health
and she recommended Dr. Sharon Dean to me. After an initial intake, she
explained that I had suffered a rather serious back and pelvic injury
and the lack of mobility that I had come to take for granted was caused
by this. I didn't seek treatment, until I literally could not move.
Sharon's work with me has helped me to become much more aware of my
body. I have regained full mobility in my neck and lower back, and
developed a body consciousness that I think will be helpful for the rest
of my life in preventing future injury. Through Sharon's encouragement,
I have reduced the level of high impact exercise and learned to
cultivate a yoga practice. Life is strange, because without this
accident, I never would have taken the time to attend to my body.

In July of 2000, I was involved in a car
accident in which I was rear-ended; I knew that I was going to
experience some pain from this one. After about the second or third week
I was in severe pain. That's when I started to come in for chiropractic
and massage treatments. I started out with three times a week and
gradually worked it down to once every week over a period of four
months, I feel better now than I did before the accident, Now I just
come in for a treatment when my body is feeling stressed or out of
alignment, I am most thankful for my restored awareness of my body and
mind. I didn't realize the way I used to deal with pain was to ignore it
and keep going on like nothing happened. I now realize the not dealing
with the pain just prolongs the problem and often causes more problems.
Now if I experience any pain I go after it in an attempt to heal it
rather than to live with it. Thanks for everything Sharon!

I first came to see Sharon after an automobile
accident when my car had been rear-ended. I was having a lot of pain in
my neck, lower back, hips and knees from the impact. From the very first
time I saw her, I got relief from the pain and I also found out that I
was getting relief from a lot of stress I was experiencing from my job.
I continued to see Sharon even after the pain from the accident was
resolved. I loved having the time to truly relax and to allow my body to
re-learn how to adjust after hard work and stress. I have recently moved
far away and miss my regular visits with Sharon, but I have found that
over the years I worked with her, my body has learned to relax, adjust,
and heal itself. Even from halfway across the country, Sharon’s work is
still having and effect. She is truly a healer.

Carpal Tunnel
It all started when I saw an ad by Dr. Dean
stating something like carpal tunnel treatment with no surgery. I
already had surgery and was having terrible ongoing tingling, needle
pricks continuously in my fingertips of my right hand, which is the
dominant hand. It was hot, irritating, tooth achy, etc. No relief even
during sleep. It would wake me up. After not having rest for a while, I
decided to call for an appointment to try this out. It can't do any harm
I thought, it could possibly help. After the third visit, I was
convinced I had found a miracle worker. Sharon's technique, gentleness,
calming atmosphere, mild- manner and knowledge of body parts and
functions made a difference in my life immediately. I've been having
wonderful nights sleep, able to type without numbness, and just simply
enjoy myself. I give thanks for Sharon and my experience with her. I
will pass her name to anyone with these problems. Be blessed!

I thought the little aches in my upper back and
forearms were something I could deal with. They were worsening but I
thought this was a normal part of a profession that puts me at a
computer desk eight or more hours per day. I met Sharon Dean through an
office-sponsored massage session. I don’t assume when I try something
new that it is going to work. I pay close attention to results. But it
was clear also that my treatment was a partnership, that I would choose
whether or not I got better in my commitment to keeping my appointments
and adopting the exercises and other details of my therapy. I have
immersed in the initial, intense stage of treatment for three months
now. My bones, muscles, and nerves are learning what they must have
forgotten someplace along the road of 60-hour workweeks: how to work
together in a healthy way. If you experience pain in your body,
recognize that it doesn’t have to be that way. I highly recommend you
see Sharon Dean!

Neck/Shoulder Pain
A few months ago, I was having a hard time
coping with my work and home responsibilities and changes in an
important personal relationship. My entire neck/shoulder/back area was
so visibly stiff and painful that someone in my office noticed and
recommended that I see Dr. Dean. I was in so much physical and emotional
pain that I felt like I couldn't even think anymore. I just wanted to
sleep. After one visit to Dr. Dean for massage and adjustment, I could
turn my neck all the way from side-to-side, my body started to unfreeze,
and I could think again. The treatments produced great vibrating,
tingling, and itching sensations of awakening in my back, arms, and
head. I returned to my job more mentally productive than ever, and I
felt renewed hope for my life and well-being. I sit in front of a
computer all day, and my neck and shoulders suffer. I also have a
permanent hip problem and slight leg length disparity, so my spine gets
out of alignment. Dr. Dean keeps all this under control so I can do more
in my life. I make long BART trips for my appointments, but I'm always
glad I go. It's one of the best things I do for myself.

Two months ago before my visits with Dr. Sharon
Dean, I was experiencing extreme tightness in my neck and upper
shoulders. In high stress times, this discomfort would lead up to
headaches and some emotional frustration. When I met Dr. Sharon Dean, I
was just curious about the procedure and what would be her assessment.
Even when I came in for the adjustment, I will admit I was somewhat of a
skeptic. I consider myself a physically fit person. I did not want to
accept the seriousness of my condition or the affects that it would have
on me long-term. At the same time, I had to be reasonable with myself. I
spend so much of my life giving and caring for other people, why could I
not do the same for me? So, I continued to see Dr. Dean. Since my first
visit, the tension in my neck and shoulders is completely gone. I have
been much more relaxed and emotionally uplifted. I care about myself and
my well-being now just as much as I care about other people. I feel
great about that. Thank You!

Let me first start off by saying, “Dr.
Sharon Dean is amazing!” I first came to Sharon six months ago because I
was experiencing limited movement in my neck, when looking right to left
and visa versa. I also experienced stiffness and a dull pain in my upper
shoulder/neck area, which was becoming more chronic in nature. This is
where I typically store my stress. After a few weeks, the results from
my visits with Sharon far exceeded my expectations. Mid way through my
treatment regimen, I noticed increased mobility in my neck and much less
tension in my upper shoulder/neck area that I had not felt in a long
time. The other amazing, unexpected outcome that I’ve experienced is my
badminton game has improved by leaps and bounds. This past year, since I
began seeing Sharon I had my best tournament results ever. Sharon has
helped me to restore my body to a more healthy state and she’s also
helped me to deal with stress more effectively. Sharon Dean is truly
amazing.

Recently, I was in an accident on my bike where
I rear-ended a small pickup truck. The impact of my body slamming into
and over the tailgate left me bruised and in tremendous pain. Although I
was fortunate not to have broken any bones, I was far from being “OK”.
After several weeks, the pain got worse and my neck, shoulders, wrists,
and hands felt like they were tied up in knots. At this point, I sought
the Network Chiropractic care from Sharon Dean. Within two sessions with
Sharon, my wrists and hands released and my shoulders were relieved of
the holding pattern that had been caused by the impact of the accident.
My headaches subsided after the first visit. It was with great gratitude
for the relief of that debilitating pain and for the continued
assistance with maintaining that state that I share my story. Thank you
Sharon!

What a success! When I met Dr. Dean, I had
very little faith that my body could be healed. I was in a bicycle
accident ten years ago and broke my neck, requiring me to undergo major
neck surgery. For ten years, my muscles surrounding my neck and upper
back were completely tense, eventually affecting my entire back. I had
two friends at work, who told me I should go see Dr. Dean, but I was
afraid of the popping and I thought the treatments would be painful. The
pain got so bad I finally decided to go see Dr. Dean. I found that the
treatments were not painful; it was actually quite relaxing. Dr. Dean
taught me many things about the body and how it “remembers” serious
injuries muscularly. Through visualization, stretching, breathing, and
exercising, I have learned to care for my body in a positive and mindful
way. I no longer have rock-solid, sore muscles and for the first time in
ten years, my neck is not afraid to move! Thank You Dr. Dean! Your
gentle presence and knowledge are greatly appreciated.

Low Back Pain
About a year ago, I woke up in the middle of the night with a sharp pain
in the middle of my lower back. I went to the emergency room at Kaiser,
but they couldn’t find anything wrong. In the meantime, the pain
continued and on the advice of a friend, I scheduled an appointment with
Dr. Sharon Dean. On my first visit, the pain was so intense that I was
unable to even lie on the table, but Sharon made some very gentle
adjustments and I felt better. I saw Sharon twice more that week and
then three more times the next week and by the end of the second week,
the pain was gone. Then over a period of several months, I began to
notice an increase sense of my body and how it tends to hold tension.
The regular adjustments seem to alleviate the negative effects of these
stresses. Overall, I feel more relaxed and at ease with an increased
sense of well-being. Thanks!

Just a few short months ago, I had my first
appointment with Dr. Sharon Dean. I started coming for a variety of
pains. I had problems with my neck, lower back, and hips. It was always
a good visit when my hips started shifting back in place. Dr. Sharon set
up a plan for me to start coming on a regular basis. Right from the
start there were small gains gradually to the point of feeling free in
my own body. You get so used to the pain; you don't realize what your
body really feels like. With Dr. Sharon, there is so much care and
education involved. Just my learning how to breathe deep has allowed me
to let go of a lot of pain I'd been holding in my body. Mentally and
physically, I feel better than I have in years. I realize that
chiropractic is as important as eating to keep balance in my body. Thank
you so much Dr. Sharon! There Is Light Through The Tunnel!

When I first met Dr. Dean, I had been suffering
from recurrent lower back pain for years. I just accepted it and ignored
it most of the time. I believe that it has something to do with a severe
ankle injury I suffered years ago. I started working with Dr. Dean two
months prior to having surgery on that ankle. Immediately upon regularly
visiting Dr. Dean’s office, I felt better. I was more open, in less
pain, and my energy flowed freely. I have healed really well after the
surgery, and I feel that is due in great part to Dr. Dean’s healing
touch. I feel so fortunate to have made contact with Dr. Dean, because
she has forever changed my life.

Scoliosis
I have a congenital scoliosis and not until
I reached 50 did I investigate structural healing. Before that, I had to
accept the medical model (cast, brace, excruciating exercises, traction,
pain, medication, bed rest, etc.). I had been getting adjustments for
about 10 years from a chiropractor I liked, but felt something was
missing – the “hands on” aspect of balancing and nurturing the body as
well as the adjustment “fix it” part. I called Sharon’s office and was
delighted to have my call returned the same day. Everything about the
place seemed right for me. The healing benefits occur on many levels as
I enter Sharon’s office. I’m most impressed by the “unwinding” process
that occurs as certain points on the spine are activated. I’m very
grateful to Sharon for all her treatments for my spine.

Students
I was involved in a major head on collision in June. I sustained neck,
back, and knee injuries that not only was a nuisance, but the pain
coincided with my return to going back to UC Berkeley. Knowing this, I
decided to seek chiropractic care with the hopes that I would be able to
survive the long summer session with as little pain as possible. Dr.
Sharon immediately addressed my major zones of pain. In only a few
visits, I was feeling remarkably better. Her office is also very close
to school. In fact, I was able to get on my bike again, which is very
important being on campus. Dr. Sharon taught me how to get in touch with
my own body and combat the pain. She recommended exercises and stretches
for me to do at home. Now it has been 3 months since the accident, and I
have no lingering pain. The experience with Dr. Sharon has been 100%
positive. I not only have no pain left from the accident, I feel better
than I ever did.

Dr. Dean’s office is located just a few
blocks from campus down Telegraph Avenue. The convenient location, along
with the late hours makes it a perfect choice for any student. Dr. Dean
helped me with my lower back pain and stress from my classes at
Berkeley. In a couple of weeks, I already felt better. For a convenient,
local chiropractor, Dr. Dean is the perfect pick.

I am a law student here at Berkeley. It was
easy to get to her office since she’s so close to campus. I am a
physically active person, but I have been having intense pain in my
hamstring and lower back for almost 4 months. I had severely diminished
my activity level and was feeling miserable. I had tried acupuncture
with no result. After two visits with Dr. Dean, the hamstring pain was
gone too. She was able to see that the problem was actually resulting
from back trouble higher up in my spine, due to scoliosis that had never
been treated. After a few more visits, my back was feeling much better
and I was up to my former activity level. I am so grateful to Dr. Dean
for her healing touch and for her helping me reclaim my body. I would
recommend her to anyone in need of a real healer.

I was involved in a car accident where we
were rear-ended on the freeway, causing me to feel discomfort and some
pain in my neck, upper and lower back. After the accident, I was often
unable to participate in sports or other similar activities. After
hearing about Sharon, I began to visit her couple of times a week,
especially due to the fact that her office is only a couple of minutes
from campus. She helped me rid myself of the pain, learn much about the
spine and posture, and continue with my active lifestyle. I would
definitely recommend Sharon to my friends and family. She’s great,
caring, and most importantly, knows what she’s doing.
